Sharon Sakai’s professional background as a news editorial journalist and subsequent employment with resort developers on the Kohala Coast has provided her with firsthand knowledge of many of the issues facing West Hawai‘i and a clear understanding of government and business.
This deep knowledge of the island and state of Hawaii, and a strong network of community resources, makes Sharon a valuable strategist for the Hafner team. Sharon’s community service includes stints on the Board of Directors for the Kona-Kohala Chamber of Commerce, the Governor’s Advisory Committee and Hawaii Island Visitors Bureau as well as the selection committee for the North Hawaii Community Hospital Board of Directors. She is also a member of the Friends of the Future board of directors. She has lived on the island of Hawai‘i for the majority of her life and is well acquainted with the history and lifestyle nuances of the communities.
